Bean Stalker is the VR Storm Studio’s own designed game, which we created in 2022. However, since 2019, our company has been focused on game and software development; nevertheless, our goal is to always create something new and innovative in the world of VR. Finally, this passion led to the conception of our own VR game. It all started among the four developers who worked from home, pursuing our dream with our own software and ideas, to

ABOUT THE GAME

We aimed to create a game that is entertaining for everyone, regardless of age or gender. Our game allows you to explore this fascinating virtual world alone or with your friends, collaborating in Single/Multiplayer modes to experience the stunning VR adventures.

Regarding the levels, they are procedurally generated, meaning we create a random, never-repeating environment for players. This way, players can encounter new challenges every time and continually experience fresh adventures throughout the game. Additionally, procedural generation enables the levels to dynamically adapt to players’ decisions and behavior, resulting in further variety within the game.

The game features a “Main Questline,” which is a main storyline or quest series. It’s generally a longer and more complex series of missions that encompass the game’s main objectives and narrative. For excitement and variety, we also have “Daily Quests,” which are daily missions that players can complete in the game. These can be smaller, simpler tasks or missions that often provide different rewards or points to the players.

THE GOAL OF THE GAME

We can embark on adventures in different biomes, where diverse natural environments and wildlife await. In each biome, a powerful main boss guards treasures and rewards, which can be found atop a tree after defeating them. During the game, we may encounter both land-based and flying enemies, engaging in thrilling and challenging battles to test our strenght.

SUMMARY

We enriched our game with various difficulty levels of logic puzzles, requiring both skill and thinking to solve. Successfully completing the logical puzzles can bring great satisfaction and advance the story.

If we want to play with our family, we have the option to choose the co-op mode, where we can enjoy the exciting and entertaining world of the game together with our family and collectively challenge the opponents.

Lidl entered the Hungarian market in 2004 as a market player, and today it serves the population of numerous towns and cities throughout the country. From the very beginning, Lidl has been characterized by its commitment to quality and freshness while striving to provide the best value for money. TASK

On occasions when Lidl participates in various external events, we aim to provide an exciting mini-game in the future to give participants a closer experience of what it’s truly like to be a cashier. We wanted to extend our assistance digitally, and when we were approached, the project immediately took shape in our minds.

OUR SOLUTION

During external events, the use of easily portable equipment is of paramount importance, making the experience more convenient. Therefore, we chose the Oculus Quest 2 for our solution, as we placed significant emphasis on its outstanding value-for-money. It offers simplicity, efficiency, user-friendliness, and functions independently without the need for cables or complex setups.

Furthermore, it’s excellently suited for remote project updates. This can be immensely beneficial for swiftly and efficiently updating projects, such as adding new content or features. Its user-friendly interface and remote updating capabilities make it stand out prominently in the VR world.

Regarding our development approach, we’ve created a virtual store where you can try your hand at being a cashier using the Oculus Quest 2.

Gameplay

In the game, various products appear on the checkout counter with barcodes. Your task is to swiftly scan the barcodes and record them in the system to achieve the highest score and secure your place on the leaderboard.

But beware, not everything is so straightforward! Some products present unique challenges. You’ll need to manually input certain barcodes, which takes time. This feature tests your dexterity and speed while providing an enjoyable glimpse into the life of a cashier.

LIVING HISTORY: THE SIEGE OF EGER CASTLE IN VR 3D

Task

Here at the VR Storm Studio, we are taking the exploration and immersion of history to a whole new level. Our task was to provide visitors of Eger Castle with authentic experiences, transporting them to one of the most defining events in Hungarian history, the Siege of Eger. One of the challenges we faced was conducting extensive research on the Ottoman Turks, Hungarians, and the history of Eger Castle, to offer our users credible and rich experiences.

THE USED TECHNOLOGIES:

When it came to development, we strived to create a lifelike battle scene using the most cutting-edge technology, Blender. The versatile modeling and animation software, Blender, is primarily used for creating 3D graphics, animations, visual effects, and games. By utilizing Blender, we crafted a 3D-rendered video with an immersive battle scene and special mini-games, as requested by our client.

OUR SOLUTION:

To execute the project, we divided it into two phases. In the first phase, using the Quest, visitors could walk and explore the world of the Siege of Eger Castle. We enriched the journey with various stops, seamlessly blending the surrounding reality with the virtual world, making the visitors truly part of this historical event.

For the second part of the execution, we established a separate room with PCVR stations, providing lifelike mini-games and video experiences. This allowed participants to fully immerse themselves in the pulse-pounding moments of history.

The depiction of authentic weaponry and combat tools created an unparalleled experience. Participants could experience the siege up close, engaging in archery and even pouring boiling oil on the Ottomans. All of this made them feel as if they were genuinely part of the events. Through these experiences, we brought back to life the thrilling moments of Eger Castle.

During our work, we endeavored to create the unique world of the Siege of Eger Castle, offering realistic experiences in a digital framework and bringing history to life in a unique way!

Since 2006, it has been a part of the KION Group, Europe’s leading manufacturer of forklifts and warehouse equipment based on the highest sales figures. As a leading forklift manufacturer, they prioritize the use of cutting-edge technologies.

TASK

For businesses, it becomes increasingly challenging to be present at exhibitions and showcase their products or services to a wide audience. However, our customer faced a specific problem: how to reduce the tens of thousands of euros in costs associated with renting, transporting, and operating a forklift simulator while meeting the logistics needs.

We aimed to provide our customers with an innovative solution that is not only cost-effective but also user-friendly. The goal was to create a compact, portable forklift simulator that can be easily transported and operated by anyone – even a daughter or son.

OUR SOLUTION

We divided the assigned task into two phases. In the first phase, we created a virtual showroom where, despite the limitations of the Quest, we managed to achieve a photorealistic walkable forklift. The second step involved designing a forklift mini-game, where the challenge was to successfully place 2 out of 3 boxes on the shelves from the loading point within a time limit of 5 minutes. The difficulty was further heightened by the possibility of breaking the boxes upon collision. We aimed to maintain high-quality graphics while creating a realistic forklift and implementing physical simulations.

The simulator’s innovative control system allows users to experience forklift driving authentically without posing any risks to events or surroundings. Thanks to its intuitive user interface, the simulator is easily customizable to suit different environments and users.

is the manufacturer and distributor of the popular Maci Coffee.

Multi-Chicory Ltd. has always sought new and innovative opportunities to reach consumers of different ages. Young people in particular have been challenging the classic brand. At the 2019 OMÉK (National Agricultural and Food Exhibition), the manufacturer wanted to show its audience that Maci Coffee is not just a retro delicacy, but also a product that is capable of renewal after 100 years.

Our team had the honour of being in partnership with Maci Coffee at this event. In a stimulating environment, we competed for the attention of visitors, whom we had to convert into buyers.

solution

At an event with stalls worth 10 million, countless free tastings and product samples, it is not easy to stand out and get customers. When designing the ordered game software, we took into account the age of the target audience, while simultaneously not forgetting the circumstances of the exhibition. The main task of the software was to get the attention of children, and while they were playing, parents could taste, look around and shop. The software is designed to make it easy to change the playing time, dependent on the waiting crowd. We used 2 Oculus Quest devices and a crew of 4. We took with us one more person than usual, whose job it was to reach out to passers-by. So no one missed the experience. A playmaker explained how the game works to those waiting in line.

our results

During the four days of the event, nearly 4000 people tasted the product and the firm sold the entire stock of more than 2000 cans of coffee! This is an outstanding 35% conversion (bearing in mind that one customer may have bought more than one product). The interest was so great that on the last day of the exhibition, the product samples in the showcases had to be extracted from the display and sold!

Our client’s expectations were therefore exceeded by the result.

TASK

Producing a short agency VR demo that can be easily presented in a few minutes during negotiations. It required a simple concept, a format that is easy for all audiences to understand and an easy-to-brand framework for external orders.

SOLUTION

Our solution was a gamified VR platform presentation that is a convenient and cost-effective solution, as expected by the customer. We created a gameplay that works well in an office environment or some other small space, trying to present most of the mechanisms efficiently. These are: throwing, catching and aiming, plus time-constrained skill-based tests packed into an intense VR experience.

OUR RESULTS

The advertising agency liked the unique solution, the demo was ordered and successfully used by their customers.

TASK

A short VR experience to showcase the swimming pool in a playful way.

SOULTION

A gamated VR show featuring water polo in the new swimming pool. The venue had an outdoor, custom-made tent, where we were installed with Oculus Quest standalone headsets.

Game play: Players found themselves facing an empty gate in the middle of a pool. They had to throw a ball with the “Szeged 300” logo into the goal. After each successful hit, new obstacles emerged from the water, making it difficult to score again.

OUR RESULTS

During the two-day outreach, almost 500 Szeged citizens tackled the challenge. The customer was very pleased because we fulfilled the dual mission of the assignment. The audience was able to enjoy the new swimming pool, in addition to having fun, whilst admiring the virtually-constructed new swimming pool, and having the oppportunity to ask questions related to the building.

EMPLOYEE SAFETY CAN BE IMPROVED BY USING VIRTUAL REALITY (VR)

INTRODUCTION

According to a new study, worker safety can be improved by using virtual reality (VR) in health and safety training, such as firefighting exercises.

The Human Factors Research Group at the University of Nottingham has developed an immersive VR system to enhance participants’ sense of temperature, smell, sight and hearing to assess how they behaved in two health and safety training scenarios: emergency evacuation fire and in the event of a fuel leak.

In one scenario, participants had to evacuate from a virtual fire in an office, saw and heard it through VR headphones, but they also sensed heat from three 2 kW heaters and were able to detect smoke from the scent diffuser, creating a multisensory virtual environment for them. .

We compared this group with another group that was observed in this scenario using only VR audiovisual elements.

Previous research on human behavior during real-life firefighting has shown that a lack of understanding of the spread and movement of fire often means that those inside are unprepared and misjudged the appropriate measures.

In-depth health and safety training allows employers to train people in hazards and hazardous environments without risking their lives.

The Nottingham study, funded by the Institute for Safety and Health at Work (IOSH), found inconsistencies between groups in participants’ responses to the scenario.

Participants in the multi-sensory group had greater urgency, reflecting the real situation, and were more likely to avoid virtual fire. Audiovisual participants treated the experience more as a game, and the behavior was less in line with the behavior expected in the real situation.

Dr Glyn Lawson, an associate professor at the University of Nottingham’s Faculty of Engineering, said: Health and safety training does not motivate and involve workers because they do not resemble real emergencies. According to his proposal on health and safety at work, virtual environments can help to address these issues by increasing the commitment of employees and their willingness to participate in further training.

There are also business benefits to using virtual environmental training, such as the ability to provide training in or near the workplace at the right time for the employee.

Virtual reality vs. PowerPoint

As part of the study, we conducted another test to measure the effectiveness of VR training versus traditional PowerPoint workouts. Participants completed questionnaires before and after training and tested their knowledge of fire safety or safe disassembly of the vehicle a week later.

While individuals trained through PowerPoint appeared to gain more knowledge when tested immediately after training, knowledge scores decreased significantly when participants were retested a week later.

In comparison, the VR group had better long-term knowledge retention and a higher level of commitment to occupational safety and health and a greater willingness to train in the future.

Research suggests that increased cognitive engagement in learning in a virtual environment creates more grounded and comprehensive mental models that can improve recall, and suggests that testing employee knowledge immediately after health and safety training may not be an effective tool for long-term learning. to acquire long-term health and safety knowledge.

By developing training strategies, using technology and stimulating sensory experiences, we are moving in a direction where the workforce will not only enjoy more engaging and engaging training, but also participate in an effective learning experience, so they will be better prepared for safe, healthy and for a good job.

The researchers held meetings, discussions and visits with partners, including Rolls-Royce, to provide expert advice on fire safety and the safe handling of hazardous chemicals. Health and safety consultants at the University of Nottingham have also contributed to giving researchers a better understanding of how training can be implemented in industry.

The aim of this study is to develop evidence-based guidelines for the development and use of virtual environments in full attention and effective training using cost-effective and accessible solutions.
